Rev. Congdon Memorial Day 2002	Welcome to the Congregational Church of Temple. We are located in Temple Center on Rt. 45 just south of Rt. 101 Who We Are We are your neighbors; we are young and old, male and female. We are people from all walks of life who follow a variety of trades and professions. Our families may have lived in Temple for generations, or we may have moved in last week. We are people who stand secure upon the rock of salvation as well as people who are hoping to discover what Jesus can mean in their life. We are Christians who try our best to be faithful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We love Jesus and seek to make his love real. We care about our neighbors and look for ways to help. We love to sing and pray; we love to explore God's Word. We love to spend time with old friends and welcome new friends. We feel that following Jesus is difficult, but worth the effort. Our Purpose The purpose of our church is to praise and worship God; to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ; to provide Christian education to all ages; to minister to the spiritual needs of the church and community; to be a place of fellowship for all; to embody the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ in our place and time.
What We Believe We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, best understood when read in the light of Jesus Christ. We believe that through Jesus, God reaches out seeking to save one and all. God desires to bless, not to punish. We believe that Jesus lived a full human life while at the same time being fully divine. We believe that Jesus is the Word of God in human form, and that to see Jesus is to see that God is infinitely kind and loving, giving and forgiving. We believed that Jesus suffered and died to demonstrate the depth of human hatred and to show God's willingness to do whatever it takes to reach us. We believe that Jesus rose from the grave to demonstrate God's astonishing mercy and to show us the way that leads to life abundant and everlasting. We believe that Jesus calls to all, offering a life of discipleship and joy. Jesus is a personal Savior, willing and able to be beside us and before us each day. We believe that each person has the right, as well as the responsibility; to seek and find God's will for their life by reading the Bible. We believe that we are all in this together. We believe that with God's grace, all will be well.
The Church Choir The church choir practices on Thursday evenings, at 7:15, as well as warming up at 9:15 on Sunday mornings. The director is Tom Baker. On weeks when the Lions Club meets, though, the practice is on Friday, same time, to accomodate those who are members of both groups.
