The 2005 Temple Harvest Festival will take place on Sunday, September 25 on the Temple Town Common. This annual event provides an outstanding selection of great food, arts and crafts, family fun activities, interesting booths, a Temple Band concert, and contests and games for all ages. There are no parking or entrance fees.

Temple gardeners are encouraged to bring the fruits of their labor to share at the Harvest Table and/or in the extraordinary vegetable contest. Families are also invited to create unique and unusual scarecrows to be entered into a scarecrow contest.

Come prepared to start the day with a pancake breakfast offered by the Souhegan Lions Club in Friendship Hall (8:00 AM to 10:30 AM). Starting at 10:00 AM you can ramble over to the Town Common to sample the traditional Annie's Baked Beans at the Harvest Table; and an assortment of soups, chili, hotdogs and more offered by various town groups under the big tent. Don't forget the famous midday chicken barbeque offered by the Temple Fire Department. Finish your feasting with a home baked pie to benefit the Mansfield Library.

Enjoy the diversity of crafter booths and learn about Temple organizations at the many information sites around the common. The Temple Historical Society will also have an Open House at the School House #6 from 1-4 pm. Bring your friends and visitors by to see the restored building and collection.

Kids of all ages (adults, too!) will enjoy the family fun area offering brain teasers, mechanical puzzles, fine motor skill games, weaving, recycling craft, beading, ring horseshoes, construction games… and for the little ones… homemade play dough. The highlight of this area is the 'guess how many in the jar' contest, and the wrought iron tavern puzzles. Be sure to visit the dress-up area that was introduced last year and was a big hit for all.

For those wishing to test strength and stamina make sure to try your hand at the hay bale toss. Take a pony ride and/or enjoy a leisurely village tour in the hay wagon.

This year's special exhibit theme will be Music of the Monadnocks featuring the musical talents of many individuals and groups in the Monadnock area.

The Temple Band finishes the day by 4:00 with the Stars and Stripes. Mark your calendar for an entire day of fun at this community gathering.
