Temple 250th Anniversary Fund Announced June 2009 A wealth of special events took place in Temple in 2008 in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the town. Temple's past and present were represented with concerts, parades, and performances. The old time capsule was opened, and plans were launched for a new one.

Many activities and committees have now come and gone, but one special initiative commemorates the "250th" by looking to the future.

The Temple Anniversary Fund was begun with seed money from Dick and Mary McAdoo in the form of a gift to the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation's Monadnock Region. The stated purpose of the Fund is to benefit the residents of Temple, NH. The McAdoo family's hope is that many others will contribute to the Fund over time to sustain long-term growth. Monies from this fund, in the form of grant distributions, will be awarded annually for public charitable purposes which enhance the well-being of the community.

Ideally, proposals will be for 1) projects that would not traditionally be supported by tax dollars or the Town's annual budget, and 2) projects that do support the Temple community in the form of broad participation (as opposed to those that might benefit a small group only). Town beautification and historic preservation are but two good examples.

The standing committee appointed by the Select Board to oversee the application process and distribute awards has begun to meet to establish criteria. The committee plans to make the first distribution of funds in the fall; the total amount available for granting in 2009 is $990.00.
